HEAD OFFICE
Position: Merchandise Planner
Reports to:Director Planning & Allocations
Position Available: Immediately
Responsible for developing the initial financial strategy for sales, inventory, and profit down
to sub class level to achieve agreed upon financial targets for their respective departments.
Perform on-going assessments of business trends and recommend course corrections and
improvements and may translate corrections into allocation of product.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
- Develop initial financial plans for sales, realized margin, inventory to the class/sub class level.
- In conjunction with the Buyer plan sales, GM, and turnover goals by managing inventory
and merchandise flow within company guidelines.
- Use planning/reporting tools to generate and analyze statistical data on area of
responsibility relative to performance and trend for period/year sales, margin, inventory & turns.
- Work with merchandising to determine and manage seasonal exit strategies and recommend
items for clearance.
- Partner with Buyer to assess business and analyze actual sales results to plan and
forecast in-season sales and inventories on a weekly/monthly/quarterly basis.
- Analyze and revise financial performance.
- Develop skill set required to maintain integrity of the OTB within the planning system.
- With Merchandise Analysts analyze sub department allocations to maintain in stock levels,
maximize turnover and fill rates and minimize lost sales for all stores.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (Experience, Education, Training):
- 3-5 years retail planning, inventory management or financial analysis experience
- Excellent communication and influencing skills
- Ability to work well in a team
- Creative problem solving skills, analytical skills and strong aptitude with numbers
- Exposure to relevant planning, analytical, data management systems
- Excellent skills Microsoft Office Applications, specifically Excel
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience with the Arthur planning system
